That Bulgaria was under a christian ruler for the first time in 665 – his name is Khan Kubrat (king of Bulgaria). According to the ancient recordings, Kubrat was educated in Constantinople -the heart of the Byzantine Empire. The founder of the Old Bulgarian empire from the house Dulo, was baptized before fulfilling his intentions of creating Bulgaria. There Bulgaria was under the rule of christian king, but the christianity as a religion was for the first time acknowledged in the second half of the 9th century. However, the sons of Kubrat did not accept the Christianity, they paid homage to the old pagan gods.
